'A Song a Day' by Jason Anderson

So last fall I was having this fantastic conversation with my friend Dylan. Basically the long and short of it was this idea of challenge. Pushing ourselves, continuing to hunger for inspiration, and never remaining too comfortable.

Well, I slept on that, and the following afternoon started 'A Song a Day', an idea by no means exclusive to myself; a concept I know has been carried out with greater results and exceedingly substantial duration than my small personal efforts.

Still, it was exciting, most days yielding more than a single entry. The rule was that each creation had to be utterly of the moment. It couldn't be merely an "unreleased track" or even a latent idea that had been ruminating, awaiting completion. No. These had to be debut, if you will, expressions.

At any rate, I don't want to make this more than it was, or is. I did it for a few months, came up with ninety tracks, and called it quits, excited to find the next challenge.

But what of all these songs? Simple. With the help of Dave and ECA, I'm now excited to release them all--for free--on the awesome internet.

Jason Anderson starts of 2008 with a 100% free album, On the Street. ECA Records and Jason Anderson have teamed up to present a completely free album. "On the Street" is available now in lovely DRM-free mp3 format. Click here to download. The album is in the form of a zip folder containing all the mp3s and album cover jpeg.

On the Street follows Jason's 2007 release Tonight which won critical acclaim and a spot on many a year end list. You can download Tonight here and be sure to check out all of Jason Anderson's music via his myspace page.

ECA is also proud to announce the upcoming release of Jason Anderson's 90 song SONG-A-DAY compilation, also as a free digital download. Look for this in February. Also coming in February will be the release of Christians & Lions 13 song acoustic album.

Jason will release his next proper album this April through long time home K Records, in addition to an upcoming full-length for States Rights. ECA Records is going 100% free and 100% green!

Millions of CDs and DVDs make the sad journey to the landfill every year and those puppies don't go down easy when it comes to becoming one with the earth. That, combined with the fact that people don't buy CDs anymore, have created the perfect storm which is now resulting in you getting free jamz.

2008 is going to be straight up sick!

We are going to start the year off with the free album download of the never released Christians & Lions debut acoustic full-length. This album was recorded when the band was just Benjamin and Samuel. A lot of these songs ended up as full-band-versions on More Songs For Dreamsleepers & the Very Awake. You'll be able to click on a little zip folder and get all the mp3s and album art. Next to that you'll see a tiny little paypal button where you can feel free to make a donation. The donation will be split 50/50 with the band and the label. If you don't have any money, no worries, just listen to the album and spread the word. This free album will be released on JAN 22, 2008.

The fabulous Jason Anderson has also agreed to give us an EPs worth of exclusive material for an EP which we hope to release in early 2008 as well.

After that we'll be putting all of our efforts into GIGGLE MAPS. GIGGLE MAPS is a travel guide and website for all you young/poor/adventurous souls out there. More details to come. This thing is going to be the bestest thing ever. I couldn't be more excited. 4-real.

PASCALLE is currently on a west coast tour with WEATHERBOX for a bit and then they’ll come home to Brooklyn, which is rad because I want them back. Bingo is lonely without them.

Jason Anderson's TONIGHT have arrived home from the pressing plant and look...classic. We will be doing a VERY special pre-order for this album. Anyone ordering the album between now and its August 21st release date will be getting it for $5.00 postage paid and also have it arrive 1 week before it hits stores! hell yea! Ramona Cordova is heading to Europe then Asia then back to US for more dates in support of "The Boy Who Floated Freely" Christians & Lions will be playing limited east coast shows as they finish mixing their new songs and prepare for their epic summer tour. The band also just recorded a live session for WERS in Boston which will air on March 16, 2007. We will be releasing a brand new song from the band in early April from their new cd single. Jason Anderson is right smack in the middle of touring. He'll take a break from that to finish mixing his ECA debut before gearing up for another summer of wonderful shows.

After being out of print for some time, the Ramona Cordova album is back in print again. It should be available at any record store with taste. If it isn't there tell them they are out of touch with music and force them to special order it.

The Kay Kay cassette is sold out. Sorry. Anyone who has ordered will get one soon. Anyone else...you missed the boat.

Ramona Cordova will leave in February for his first US tour in over 8 months. The first hunky chunk of dates are posted.
